How do I convert kW to amps at 220V?
I = (kW × 1000) ÷ (220 × PF). For resistive loads (PF=1.0), simply: I = kW × 4.545. For inductive loads at PF=0.9: I = kW × 5.05. For a 2.2 kW motor at PF=0.88: I = 2,200 ÷ (220 × 0.88) = 2,200 ÷ 193.6 = 11.36 A.
What countries use 220V?
China nominally uses 220V single phase. Most of Europe uses 230V (very close to 220V within tolerance). South America: Brazil uses 127V or 220V (varies by region), Argentina uses 220V. India, most of Asia and Africa use 230V. For practical purposes, equipment rated for 220V works fine at 230V and vice versa.
What is the difference between 220V and 230V?
Under IEC harmonisation, 230V (±10%) is the standard, meaning 207–253V is within spec. China's 220V is within this range. Most equipment rated for 220, 230, or 240V operates normally at any of these voltages. For accurate calculations always use your actual measured or nominal supply voltage.
